VACA’s Partnership with The Circle Vietnamese Parents: Building a Stronger Future Together

The Vietnamese American Civic Association (VACA) is honored to work alongside The Circle Vietnamese Parents. This grassroots organization is crucial in supporting families raising children and youth with disabilities within the Vietnamese American community. Recognizing this community’s unique challenges and strengths, our partnership fosters resilience, promotes inclusion, and empowers families.

Empowering Families Through Collaboration

We firmly believe in the power of collaboration to create lasting change. Together with The Circle Vietnamese Parents, VACA facilitates a range of programs and services designed to address the diverse needs of families:
  • Parent Support Groups: We provide safe and supportive environments for parents and caregivers to connect with one another, share experiences, and learn from each other’s journeys. Our support groups are facilitated by trained professionals familiar with the cultural nuances and specific challenges Vietnamese American families face.
  • Educational Workshops: We offer workshops covering navigating the special education system, accessing community resources, promoting positive mental health, and understanding specific disabilities. These workshops provide practical tools and knowledge to empower parents to advocate for their children and access the support they need.
  • Cultural Competency Training: Recognizing the importance of cultural sensitivity in service delivery, we offer training sessions to educators, healthcare providers, and other professionals who work with Vietnamese American families. These sessions foster an understanding of cultural values, communication styles, and family dynamics, ensuring that services are delivered culturally responsive.
Advocacy: We work together to advocate for policies and resources that improve the lives of children with disabilities and their families. This includes advocating for accessible healthcare, inclusive education, and culturally appropriate services

Building a More Inclusive Community

Through our partnership with The Circle Vietnamese Parents, we strive to:
  • Reduce Stigma: By creating open and honest dialogue about disability and mental health, we aim to reduce stigma and promote understanding within the community.
  • Increase Access to Services: We help families navigate complex systems and connect with resources such as healthcare providers, therapists, educational support, and recreational opportunities.
  • Foster Community: We create opportunities for families to connect with one another, building a strong and supportive network within the Vietnamese American community.

Looking Toward the Future

As we move forward, our partnership with The Circle Vietnamese Parents will continue to evolve, responding to the ever-changing needs of families and children. We are committed to providing innovative and effective programs that empower families, promote inclusivity, and create lasting positive change within the Vietnamese American community and beyond.
